Tolman has received praises for her performance in the role of Minnesota police officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair declared that Tolman has "calmly sure of taking over the whole show". The actress won the Critics' Choice Television Award as Best Supporting Actress for a movie/ministry, and was nominated for Best Actress at both the Emmy Awards & Golden Globes for her role. The same year, it was revealed that Tolman will have a guest role on the Mindy Project in the role of Abby Berman who is a romance author. In 2015 she played the role of a support of Michael Dougherty s comedy horror film Krampus. Tolman declined several support roles, like roles played by mothers, wifes and friends, following her first appearance on Fargo. Tolman wanted a new job. Tolman was cast on ABC's Downward Dog based off the Animal Media Group webseries. The show lasted for one year. Tolman, who is an active Twitter user, stated that she had "pretty impressive" numbers in the ABC Drama Emergence. The drama premiered September of 2019, however, it was cancelled after one season ending on May 21, 2020. The appearances of her in the NBC show NBC Good Girls were also listed as a source. She was Alma Filcott, in the second episode of Why Women Kill. Natalie Green was the lead character for the Facts of Life segment of Live In Front of a Studio Audience's third season.
